Company Role: Care quality manager

What do you do at Avanti?
My role is making sure that the care we provide is of the highest quality possible. I train the carers and go out and perform spot checks to make sure everything is going well. I will also have a chat with the service users to make sure they’re happy and see if we need to improve on anything.

What’s your background?
I’ve done a range of jobs before coming into the care industry 7 years ago. I ran my own landscape gardening business for many years, was a skilled joiner, groundworker and also a fence erector.

What is something that you’d like to help change in the care industry?
I want to help to raise the quality of homecare being provided. There isn’t a consistently high standard of care being provided currently and that’s something that we’re going to work to change at Avanti.

What do you like most about your job?
Knowing that I’m making a difference.

What do you like when you’re not Avanti-ing?
I enjoy the outdoors and love hiking and mountain biking. I love spending time with my family and doing odd DIY jobs – I’m known as ‘Benny Jobs’ by the family!
