Friendship Matters: Why We’re Launching the Avanti Coffee Morning Group

30th July marks International Day of Friendship

At Avanti Homecare, we see first-hand just how powerful friendship can be. A familiar face, a friendly conversation over a cup of tea, or simply having somewhere to belong can make an enormous difference to someone’s wellbeing.

That’s why we’re so excited to be launching the Avanti Coffee Morning Group.

We know that as people get older, opportunities to socialise can become fewer. Retirement, bereavement, health conditions or reduced mobility can all make it harder to stay connected, and loneliness can quietly become part of everyday life. Our new coffee morning has been created to give local people a welcoming place to meet others, build genuine friendships and enjoy spending time together in a relaxed environment.

Because friendship isn’t just about having someone to spend time with – it’s about feeling valued, connected and knowing someone cares.

Warm Welcome Awaits

The Avanti Coffee Morning Group has been designed to bring people together in a friendly, relaxed setting where everyone feels welcome.

Whether you come on your own or with a friend, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Meet new people and build lasting friendships.
  • Enjoy tea, coffee and cake.
  • Take part in fun activities and games.
  • Share stories, conversation and laughter.
  • Access helpful information about local services and community support.
  • Feel part of a welcoming local community.

Our hope is that this becomes much more than

Loneliness Is More Common Than We Think

Loneliness can affect people of every age, but it is particularly common among older adults.

While spending time alone isn’t always a negative thing, ongoing loneliness can have a significant impact on both physical and mental wellbeing.

Recent UK statistics highlight just how widespread the issue is:

  • Around 1 in 4 UK adults report feeling lonely at least some of the time.
  • The Campaign to End Loneliness estimates that around 3.8 million people in Great Britain experience chronic loneliness, meaning they feel lonely often or always.
  • Almost half of UK adults (49.6%) say they experience loneliness at least occasionally.

Behind every statistic is a person who may simply miss having someone to talk to, laugh with or share life’s everyday moments.

Why Friendship Matters

Sometimes the smallest moments have the greatest impact.

For many people, a weekly coffee morning or friendly chat can become the highlight of their week. It offers something to look forward to, somewhere to feel welcomed and an opportunity to build meaningful relationships.

Friendship doesn’t need grand gestures.

It begins with saying hello.

It grows through listening.

And it flourishes when people feel accepted, included and valued.

So Join Us!

This International Day of Friendship, we’re encouraging everyone to think about someone who may benefit from getting out of the house, meeting new people or simply enjoying a friendly conversation.

If that’s you, or someone you know, we’d love to welcome you to the Avanti Coffee Morning Group.

Because every friendship starts with a simple hello, and sometimes that hello can change someone’s life.
